This makes sense to me. Now that I think of it I extend to the bar. I cant wait to jump tomorrow and try thinking about this.

You might try some bent pole swing up's like in this video. Notice how Annie has a long swing to the top and then try's to extend her feet to the one o"clock position. This drill allows you to time your inversion with a full bend and teaches you to extend for longer time in the correct position. Also notice how she turns into the pole a little bit at the end of her inversion this helps to not fall out of the inversion but instead will allow you to turn and push straight down the pole. Annie's still needs a little work but I think it is looking really good. These drills can be done from three, four, and five lefts on two to three poles smaller then your normal jumping poles from those runs, I believe they could drastically improve your jump since you tend to fall away from the pole on your inversion (I know I did nothing but this drill for six months and from this drill my push off went from 1 and half feet to 3 and a half feet in a year and a half). Sorry About the kid screaming in the background I am trying to swap the audio but it might take a while.

You can do this long swing drill and then finish your jump off the top with a turn and land on your stomach pushing off the top.

This is the next progression, I like pushing off on to my stomach and rolling to my back before I hit the mat so I don't hurt my back.

Hey so I think the reason I fall away from the pole so much is because the pole is to small. I feel no pressure back from the pole after take-off. I have done those distance vaults before but I will go off the back of this pit. I only have a total of 6 poles lol. I agree that it is a good drill though. I just need to go up to bigger poles is what I think. Tomorrow I will be going up to a 14'9" 185. we will see how that works. Thanks a lot though for the suggestion.

Hey, my blog server is down right now, so I cant post things so here it is on here.

Hey Everyone, today was a very windy day. The wind was not predictable, but I had no problem with it. I really was trying to quicken my last steps, swing straight up, and extend straight off the pole. I think I was doing better than I have been, but I still have a lot to work on. I think I am going to be done vaulting after the 14th of July. I really want to recover and start building again. I have a meet on the 7th and 14th in Eugene. They will be my first and only outdoor competitions this year. I am very happy with what I have accomplished with this year though. My technique has improved a lot and I am consistently leaving the ground.
