Old posts have been deleted. See the end of the thread for the newest posts. Remember that _I_ don't have anything to do with any of these, I am just reposting stuff from eBay, so don't contact me with questions.

How much does a good used pit usually sell for? I have an extra one that we don't use much but I don't want to just give it away to a low bidder on Ebay.

Go take a look on www.bubbapv.com at my pit. Obviously it's the one in Wyoming, MN. I got it from a school in southern Minnesota. I got everything that you see and gave the school a $225 donation to their athletic fund. We did it that way to eliminate any liability issues for the school that there might be if I got hurt or someone else got hurt on the pit. The problem with a used pit is that if you check out what it costs to dispose of on old pit via "the garbage man" you'll see that anything you get puts you in the plus side. If it's legal size then you have a market for a high school that will buy it over a new pit. If it's not, then your market is "Joe Backyard" and $500 is probably tops. If both scenerios aren't appealing to you then try it on e-bay. Frankly that's probably your best bet. Hope this helps. Later..............Mike

Thanks souleman,

I've had a few people inquire about it, but I had no idea what the going price was. Sounds like you got a great deal on yours though.

I spent quite a bit of time last spring and early summer looking for a pit for my back yard. I found 3 pits within 100 milesof me. One was a large (for a high jump pit) high jump pit for free and a full high school size pit for $500. I chose mine because I know I can get acouple of front buns for it if I want to just go get them. Another thing that hurts the value is of course the shipping issue, which generally equates to rent a bigtruck and go get it. There is a market for your pit, it's just goingt take a little effort to find it. What part of Arkansas are you in? Later..........Mike

There's a lot of vaulting going on in that part of the country. Being kinda close to Texas could help too. Like I said, if it meets the new specs for high schools, and it's better than most pits that these schools use, then e-mail the schools within say 100 to 150 miles of you with a picture of the thing. Who knows, you're buyer might be a little school with a couple of good vaulters that need a good pit. They save a ton of dough and you get more for it than the average "backyard Joe" like me would be able to pay. It would definitely be a win win situation. Good Luck........Mike
P.S. I asked about where you are because I spent a couple of years down in Fayetteville going to the University. I also had an aunt that lived most of her life in Eldorado.

Fayetteville is a beautiful area in Arkansas. Pretty much all of the NW section of Arkansas has some nice landscape. One of my former vaulters is now a Razorback. Her name is Stephanie Irwin and she's lucky to have Bryan Compton working with her.

My house is about 200 yds. from the Caddo River where the small mouth are abundant. We actually go on a nice float trip during our summer camps.

Sounds like your camps are a blast. Funny, I'm the only one of my siblings that was born "up north" and I'm the one who's decided to be planted in the family plot at Mt. Comfort, which is just west of Fayetteville proper. I really do love it down there. I try to get there at least once a year. There's a bike rally in late September early October that I've been to three times. The riding is awesome. If my kids hadn't settled down up here I would be down there in a heart beat. Later........Mike
