TX Relays Dec - Trey Hardee gets CR after review of 100m

Unread postby CowtownPV » Thu Apr 06, 2006 7:46 am

Austin, Texas (AP) -- Texas’ Trey Hardee broke a 13-year-old NCAA decathlon record in the 100-meter dash and won four of the five first-day decathlon events as the gun went off on the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Wednesday.

Hardee jump-started his day with a 10.36 finish in the 100, besting the previous event record of 10.40 set in 1993 by California’s Chris Huffins. The Longhorns’ senior also won the long jump with a leap of 25 feet, 3 1/4 inches, the shot put with a heave of 47 feet, 5 inches and the 400 with a time of 49.11.

The only event Hardee didn’t capture was the high jump, which was won by Texas teammate Donovan Kilmartin at 6 feet, 11 inches. Hardee and Kilmartin lead the event at the halfway point with 4399 and 4175 points, respectively.

The NCAA decathlon record is 8463 points

So far... 13.83 PR in the hurdles with a 3.1 wind, and 48.24m (158-03) in the discus. He's on track to break his PR in the dec, and a good pole vault could put him within striking distance of the collegiate record (wind just needs to be under 4.0 to be wind-legal in the dec).

Trey is probably warming up for the pole vault now, so everyone send good thoughts his way!

Indeed that is what it is listing. The event results for the 100 had him at 10.36, the overall sheet had him at 10.35, that must be the difference.

That is what it said for right after the 1500 was finished. So it must have been changed within the past few minutes -- after I posted my last post.

Brian, we will be in Clemson next weekend. We haven't been to Clemson yet. You might have seen some other team up there. This weekend, we will be at FSU.
